This exploratory study aimed to gain a broad sense of the everyday life, desires, aspirations, and social and economic hopes of India’s youth between the ages of 18 and 30. Wide-ranging in its scope, its goal was to produce a sense of how a set of people often referred to as the country’s demographic dividend imagine themselves in relation to the progress and future of the country, as also their sense of self as producing and consuming subjects. The project deliverable also broke down the understanding of Indian youth as a singular category and instead provided a detailed, descriptive, and intersectional understanding of youth in relation to geographical location and identity. Carried over for about six months, the research involved data collection from youth across 12 Indian cities. The research was spearheaded by Professor Dr Mathangi Krishnamurthy and executed by AuxoHub.
